Masthead Fonts

Masthead Experiment

In the above image I have experimented with different way I could have my masthead.

Magazine Names

The above are names I thought of for a music/fashion magazine. The ones highlighted in yellow are the final five I was picking from.

Production Schedule

The table above shows how I spent the 10 weeks I had to create the three media tasks. I think I could have spent my time more efficiently becasue I often done some work and decided I didn't like it, so I moved onto a different things. I also left it quite late until I started my DPS. Although I did finish all the products in time I could have used my time more wisely so I had more time to make improvements. If I were to do this again, I would make sure I plan my time better.

Font Mood Board

I have chosen fonts which I think would look effective as a masthead, cover lines and main cover line. For the masthead I want something that will stand out and is different from any other masthead so the customers will straight away know its that specific magazine due to the font. For the main cover line I will probably pick something that looks good with the image, but these are fonts which have been previously used on other magazine; therefore i know they would be effective. The cover lines will need to be clear and easy to read; this is why i have picked these particular fonts.

Costume, Props & Location

Costume:
The costumes used in my magazine are clothes I think my target audience would also like to wear and represents how I'm trying to portray the artist. There are three looks I used in the magazine. For the front cover she wore an off shoulder black crop top. I used this because I wanted something plain so all the focus was on her and not her clothes. In the contents page the model is wearing the same black top as the front cover but is paired with a bright multicoloured coloured skirt. The skirt also has cartoon images on which I thought my target audience would think it quite 'cool'; also it adds colour to my contents page. On the DPS the model is wearing a white, textured dress with a royal blue collar. I thought this showed the more 'fashionable' side of her and would be something the target audience aspire to wear. Also by changing the outfit it makes the audience pay attention. For the photo-strip on the DPS the model is wearing a black tight skirt, black crop top, black tights, black Dr. Martens and a cream and blue checked shirt. This is a more laid back look which replicates the playful and fun poses. This look is also something which the target audience could easily buy which is anther reason why I used it.

Location:
I decided to take all the photos in a photo studio which studio lighting. I done this because I wanted to achieve a flawless and professional magazine look. The studio allowed me to experiment with Photoshop to give me the flawless look I wanted. I was also able to add text where I wanted as I had a plain background.

Props:
The only props I used was make-up and make-up brushes to create the look I wanted. Also on some pictures the model put the leather jacket on her shoulder- using it as a prop instead of a fashion accessory. I didn't use many props because I didn't want that to distract people from her.
